SPAM ALERT! “Your Facebook seems to be hacked!”

Be on alert for an email with a title of, or similar to “Your Facebook seems to be hacked!”  The body of the message reads as follows:

Hi user@domain.com,
If I get just one more spammy email like this from you I’m gonna report you. Your sh*t is in the attachment..

The attachment, which in our sample was named “Photo.zip” – but may have other names – contains an executable file. That executable file contains a variant of the W32/Yakes Trojan which attempts to connect to and download malware files from two Russian forums.

Any unexpected message from an unknown sender with a .zip file attachment should be considered suspect and handled with great care. In most cases, you will be safest by simply deleting that message from your inbox.
